Chiz Turncross at Arena Gallery

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

From Friday 16th to Sunday 25th March Chiz Turnross will be taking over the Arena Gallery for Equinox. The show will unravel with the artist carrying out his practice in the space and in a back to front twist, will culminate in a private view on Thursday 22nd March. Turnross works with gloss paint, video and music and this gallery takeover shows no bounds. Equinox turns our interest to the making of Turnross’s work, the materials he uses and the ‘by products’ of his processes. If you’re still unsure about what’s going to happen during Equinox, you’re not the only one, but that’s what we’re excited about.

16th – 25th March 12pm – 5pm
Private view 22nd March 7pm

Acetate Steps

Friday, February 24th, 2012

Arena Studios and Gallery will be taking part in The Visual Arts in Liverpool weekend from the 2nd to the 4th of March.
Acetate Steps is a site specific installation and sound piece created for the event by Arena artists Carol Ramsay, Pamela Sullivan and Iain Yell. The piece celebrates the mix tape, a rite of passage for every teenager sitting in their bedroom creating a compilation of songs for a friend, soul mate or someone who just out and out broke their heart! Across the generations this ritual has been performed, from the little plastic 90 minute cassette to i tunes, a list of songs has been created by all of us …just to say that what can’t be put into words.

Exhibition 2nd – 4th March

Private view Friday 2nd March 7-9pm

After party @ Camp and Furnace, Greenland Street featuring DJ Nick Power (The Coral) 8pm – late, FREE ENTRY.

Julie Dodd – Inner Beauty

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

Arena Studios and Gallery are proud to present ‘Inner Beauty’ an exhibition of work created by our current artist in residence Julie Dodd. The piece consists of approximately 800 pieces and is ‘a response to the artificial way beauty is perceived as only skin deep. The pattern was inspired by microscopic images of inside the human body and was constructed using layers of ’skin’ from images of models in magazine pages (fashion, beauty and glamour)’.

Private view – Friday 2nd December 6pm – 9pm

Gallery Open – Thursday 1st – Saturday 3rd
Thursday 8th – Saturday 10th
